My attitude when drawing into the computer is the same as when I use "traditional" materials. Nothing is predetermined. The creative process leads to discoveries in content and imagery. I rely on spontaneous and "gut reaction" responses throughout the creative process. This subjective approach has its own rhythm and intuitive logic and channels the operation of my actions. My creative process includes speculation, experimentation and referencing previous work in sketchbooks, drawings and paintings.
"Hughson is a brilliant and dark colorist. His art merges into the abstract with almost oriental lyricism."
(Don Archer, Director, Museum of Computer Art.)
